This is Pamela Harris' debut as an author. Pamela was born and raised in Somerset, New Jersey. She began writing poetry in high school and throughout college, but it wasn’t until 2003, that she expanded her ideas into journal writing to form a vast collection of stories that have become Purple Diary Monologues. Some of them are based on her life experiences, and as a victim of domestic violence.
Purple Diary Monologues is a raw, intense, provocative, thought provoking, and at times thrilling look at the risky choices and transformations women make to survive.
Purple Diary Monologues was written for the greater good to empower and give a voice to many voiceless women. So, they were presented several times as staged readings in New Jersey, New York, and Washington, D.C. In 2019, Pamela was a featured playwright at The Langston Hughes Playwright Showcase sponsored by the I, Too, Arts Collective in Harlem, New York. Several actors showcased a stage reading of Purple Diary Monologues.
A few excerpts from her book are part of her winning competitions in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New York City (National Manhattan Monologue Slams), and (Black Women Film Network Monologue Competition) Atlanta, Georgia.
